Myrtle Essential Oil — Myrtus communis L.

Method: Steam Distillation
Plant Part: Fresh Leaves and Twigs
Size: 0.33 fl oz / 10 ml
Myrtle Essential Oil has a fresh, green, clean, slightly camphoraceous aroma with soft woody and herbal undertones. It has a characteristic Mediterranean profile and is well suited for home fragrancing, diffusers, massage blends, cosmetic products, and natural perfumery.
Blends Well With Myrtle blends well with Lavender, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Lemon, Orange, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Cedarwood, Cypress, Juniper, and Geranium. With citrus oils, the blend becomes fresher; with woody oils, deeper; and with Lavender or Geranium, softer and more perfumery-like. For the Home Myrtle is well suited for fragrancing rooms, especially when you want a fresh, clean atmosphere. It can be used in a diffuser, in home aromatic blends, in the bathroom, kitchen, workspace, and in combinations with citrus oils, Eucalyptus, Lavender, and Tea Tree.
Myrtle is also valued for its distinctly fresh aroma and is used in blends intended to help discourage insects. For the Skin For cosmetic use, Myrtle should be used only in diluted form, added to a suitable carrier oil or a prepared cosmetic base. It may be especially useful in care for oily and combination skin, skin prone to excess oiliness, skin that benefits from a fresh cleansing routine, and in massage and body-care blends.
For Hair and Scalp Myrtle may be added in small amounts to a carrier oil, mask, conditioner, or another hair and scalp care product. It blends especially well with Rosemary, Lavender, Cedarwood, and Tea Tree.
Use in diluted form. For hair brushing, apply 1–2 drops to a comb, avoiding contact with the scalp and eyes.
Aromatherapy In a diffuser, Myrtle creates a fresh, green, clean atmosphere. Its aroma works especially well in the kitchen, bathroom, workspace, and other areas where a feeling of lightness and freshness is desired.
Important Do not apply Myrtle Essential Oil directly to the skin in undiluted form. Dilute with a suitable carrier oil or prepared cosmetic base before topical use. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
